Associate Professor in Communication Arts. A long time contributor to Newsday, he is a contributing editor to Runner's World magazine and has also been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, AARP Bulletin, Smithsonian, Men's Fitness and Yoga Journal.
A senior communication arts major, Marisa has been working with the Slate for over two years. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America, she transferred to NYIT with aspirations to combine her interests and get involved with food in the media, especially writing and journalism.
Lorraine is completing her master's degree in communication arts, and will graduate on May 23, 2010.
Rania is a senior majoring in business with a concentration in marketing. She is an Arab-American originally from the Middle East, and has been living here for 14 years. She has worked as a real estate agent, and her interests include traveling, music, and trying new things.
Michael is in his last semester at NYIT. He spends his free time working two jobs, watching movies, and enjoying what life has to offer. When he graduates in May, he would like to join some aspect of the Army where he may incorporate the knowledge he has gained from his communication arts major.
Robin is a graduate student in communications arts, and also works in the School of Education. She received a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park and has worked as a reporter, writer, and editor.
Amanda is an advertising student, and in her junior year. Her biggest hobby is dancing. She has been dancing and performing with an Indian dance group located in Queens for over four years.
An Advertising major in his senior year, Oscar plans to work for a magazine, newspaper, or an ad agency while continuing with his graphic design freelancing when he graduates. He also considers joining the Peace Corps., and volunteering overseas. He is the philanthropy chair in Alpha Chi Rho and his interests are food, music and graphic design along with the arts.
Christopher is a sophomore working towards completing a combined BS/MBA degree in public accounting by 2013. He enjoys watching sports, listening to any type of music (as long as it has a good beat) and joking around with his closest of friends.  
John is an aspiring writer and creative designer who will be receiving his M.A. in Communication Arts in May 2010. He currently holds a B.A. from Adelphi University in Interdisciplinary Studies, and works full time as a communications director at a Manhattan-based commercial real estate marketing company.
Mitch is in his final year of Communication Arts graduate program. Since starting here, he has taken a real liking to writing, and hopes to one day become a professional writer. He loves sports, soccer, snowboarding, keeping fit, and music. Another passion is travel--and he's been lucky enough to have traveled a lot of the world.
Roesann is a junior majoring in accounting. She aspires to become a fraud/dispute services investigator with Ernst & Young. Her interests are watching movies, the beach, and fashion.
Kevin is 21 and works full-time in a TC master control room for the San Francisco Bay Area affiliate of Fox Sports network. He transferred his A.A.S degree in Radio & TV production from Suffolk County Community College for a B.F.A in Communication Arts at NYIT.
Jonathan is a senior majoring in communication arts. He works as a freelance photographer, and is currently preparing to direct his first independent film.
Brittney is an advertising major, and in her final semester at NYIT. The Slate will be one of her last endeavors here on campus.
A senior at NYIT, Chris McKenna is an advertising major. Chris is busy not only with the Slate, but with the Carleton Group, an internship with an advertising firm in New York City, school, and a job. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, watching The Office, golfing, and bowling.
A senior and a communication arts major, Allen is in his third semester as a writer for the Slate. A very big sports fanatic, Allen is a die-hard Rangers, Giants, Yankees, and Knicks fan. He would like to be a sports broadcaster or a sports writer in the future.
Nicholas Pacchiano is a senior majoring in Communication Arts.
A senior and an English major, with a concentration in professional writing, Joe hopes to become a technical writer, or perhaps a journalist. He's been playing the electric guitar for over six years, and it's his primary interest.
Laura graduated with a B.F.A. in film from C.W. Post, but spent the next several years working in the theater before moving to Maine to work with film again. Since returning to New York, she has gone back to school at NYIT, and hopes to obtain a masters degree in communication arts.
